The Memory Care Unit at Cielo Azul specialize in the care of seniors coping with memory loss and offers support to both residents and family. We understand the situation you are faced with and we offer an excellent program at a very affordable price.
Cielo Azul offers the opportunity for couples to live on the same campus. Enjoy the comfort and safety of living in your own condo in the Independent Living section of the retirement community and your spouse can enjoy the services and security of the Memory Care Unit. This living arrangement allows you to remain part of the care team for your spouse. The Memory Care Unit is a short walking distance away allowing you to visit your spouse at any time.
Focusing on the Needs of the Residents
Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia and requires specialized care services. The Memory Care Program focuses on the needs of the resident and providing the resident with a safe and stimulating environment. The Memory Care staff are specially trained to work with dementia residents whilst maintaining their dignity and self respect. Our staff understands that each resident has different needs and how to respond to those needs in a positive manner. To help residents maintain their highest level of independence we incorporate life skill programs to help them continue with their own self-care. Our activities are customized according to the needs and interests of the residents.
Dementia residents feel more comfortable in familiar surroundings. One way to help create this environment is for the resident to have some of their favorite furniture and pictures from their home in their new room at Cielo Azul. To help maintain this familiar environment Cielo Azul has a designated staff just for the Memory Care Unit.
Designed With Security in Mind
The Memory Care Unit is a secure environment where the resident remains safe, participate in activities and can not wander away from the community. A special design feature of the Unit is our in-door circular walking path and our enclosed out-door walking paths/garden area. These walking paths serve as therapeutic programs used by the staff to help residents experiencing periods of agitation and anxiety which are the most common behavioral issues with dementia residents.
When a resident would like some quiet or relaxation time they can enjoy the outside garden area or the smaller sitting room designed for that special quiet time. In addition to the Dinning Room/Activity Room there is also a TV room for residents wanting to watch their favorite shows.
The Memory Care Unit is staffed 24 hours a day, provides three meals and snacks daily. Assistance with medication, meals, bathing and personal grooming are provided. Weekly housekeeping and linens are provided. For the convenience of the residents both semi-private and private rooms are available.
